Works the way it was described. The light is red/pink when the battery is charging and gradually turns purple then eventually blue when it’s fully charged. The changing of the color is great because you can gauge how much it has charged by the color. Very portable. Handy to have, especially if you have an extra battery to alternate with.
My Score: 5 / 5 Stars
This card reader is very sleek and effective. The only down side is that it comes with a white USB cord, so if you are picky about all of your electronics matching you will need to find a different usb-mini cord for it. I have to take off a star for the design choice of the white cord, it would just look so much nicer if it had a short, black cord (maybe extra thin gauge, with compact ends). The reader itself is a very sleek black color, and is snugly constructed. I have tested it at full speed for all of the cards I have on hand (a few CF and SD cards) and it has worked very well, running at the full advertised speed of the card.
My Score: 4 / 5 Stars
I bought this to have a all-in-one portable reader. It turned out to be twice as fast as my dedicated (and obviously a bit old) Compact Flash reader. I can sustain nearly 30MB/s with my fastest card Transcend 400X – 16 GB Compact Flash Memory Card TS16GCF400 (Blue) . And it allows me to read my phone’s microSD as well as any other people’s cards I meet in my travels. Easily worth the measly $13 asking price. Also, works well in my Canon 7D for movies/photos, and I use Linux Ubuntu 10.4 for my tests.
My Score: 5 / 5 Stars
I needed a compact flash reader for my newly purchased Canon DSLR. I probably did a bit more research than most on just a flash reader but I’m glad I did. The unit is very fast, and I belive it supports UDMA. I don’t require UDMA support but I noticed that a lot of the other higher end/more expensive readers also had the same thing. It’s good to know that I’m getting some of the higher end features in this low priced reader.
My Score: 5 / 5 Stars
I purchased this for my daughter’s computer. It takes just about every card imaginable, has a quick response, installed in seconds. Well worth it. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn’t have a built in card reader on their computer to buy this easy to use USB card reader.
